The final season of “Game of Thrones” is on the horizon, so how about I blow your mind with what could have been? Sure, there are plenty of fan theories out there, but HuffPost recently uncovered a long-lost draft of the original pilot in the archives at Texas A&M’s Cushing Memorial Library, and oh, what a different picture it paints. In the script, Jon Snow is a drunk, the White Walkers can talk, and Catelyn Stark is power-hungry like Cersai. In one of the scenes in the original pilot script, Catelyn says of Joffrey, “He would make our daughter Queen,” to which Ned replies, “Is that what you want for her? A pretty crown to wear?” Then, rather than King Robert coming for Ned, Ned would head to King’s Landing on his own accord. Another big difference was Daenerys and Khal Drogo’s wedding night. In the episode that we saw, Drogo takes Daenerys by force, but in the draft, she is the one who takes charge. And then there is Jaime and Cersei’s relationship which, in the original, was initially less consensual, with Cersei protesting and no reference to the fact that they are twins. All that in just one episode? We can’t imagine how the rest of the series would have played out.
When John Mayer saw photos of himself from the Grammys on the internet after presenting the song of the year award to Childish Gambino, he realized his hair didn’t look so good. Between the show and the afterparties, he decided to get a trim. John said, “There’s something in between the show and the afterparty, and it’s called waiting around doing nothing.” He then added, “You might be aware that I’ve got my hair cut in between, since I last saw you, in between the Grammys and now. I got my hair cut because I look back at a picture from the Grammys and I said, ‘That won’t do. I need another haircut.’ Shout out to my barber Nick, who came to my house.”
Congratulations are in order for Richard Gere. He and Alejandra Silva have welcomed a baby boy. Their son was born a few days ago in New York City. This is their first child together. He has an 18-year-old son with Carey Lowell and she has a son from her marriage to Govind Friedland.
Prince Philip will no longer be getting behind the wheel. Three weeks following his January 17 car crash, Buckingham Palace announced that the 97-year-old royal has “voluntarily” decided to give up his driver’s license. According to Royal friend and biographer Gyles Brandreth, “He is a pragmatist and a realist and I’m sure he will accept that while possibly muttering under his breath.” Sounds like most of Britain can breath a sign of relief now.
